The entire team of general surgeons at Premier Surgery Center work closely with other specialists to diagnose and provide timely surgical interventions for complex conditions. Three of the most common surgeries performed at Premier Surgery Center include: hernia repair, gallbladder surgery.
Hernia Surgery
Muscle weakness in the abdominal wall can be the result of a hereditary condition, heavy lifting or straining. All these things can contribute to the development of a hernia, which forms when there is a weak spot in the abdominal muscle that allows a small amount of fat, tissue, or muscle that to form a bulge in the groin area. Sometimes hernias can expand and shrink over time, but for most people, at some point they become painful, and it is recommended that they have the hernia repaired. At Premier Surgery Center our surgeons use minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques to repair the hernia with minimal blood loss, and minimal pain. Patients undergoing hernia surgery require general anesthesia, but after a few hours in our post-operative recovery area, they can go home and recover in the comfort of their own bed.
Gallbladder Surgery
Gallbladder surgery, also often referred to as a cholecystectomy, is another very common surgical procedure that is performed at Premier Surgery Center. The gallbladder is a small organ that lies beneath the liver. It contains bile, which the liver uses to break down fatty foods. Sometimes there can be an imbalance in the bile-making chemicals, and as a result, small stones can form in the gallbladder. When you have gallstones, surgery is frequently recommended to remove the gallbladder. At the surgery center, the general surgeon most often performs this surgery laparoscopically with just a few small incisions. While this procedure also requires general anesthesia, it is performed with a minimally invasive technique that means patients recover quickly and can go home a few hours following the surgery.
